Paul Winter - 2008 Grammy Winner

Dear friends,

A true friend and inspiration to all of us at Shumei, Paul Winter, the saxophonist, bandleader, composer, explorer of the world's musical traditions, and founder of Living Music and the Paul Winter Consort, has just received his fifth Grammy Award for best ‘New Age Album of the year.’

For the past thirty years Paul has been motivated by a vision of a musical-ecological community and has followed a steady course towards his unique 'Earth Music,' a vital celebration of the creatures and cultures of the whole earth.

And now, after already receiving nine Grammy nominations throughout his career, on February 10, 2008 he received his fifth Grammy for the album entitled "Crestone," an album that the Shumei organization helped to produce. The album also featured taiko artist, Koji Nakamura, long time Shumei member and first leader of the Shumei Taiko Ensemble.

Congratulations to you Paul and to your entourage of celestial musicians.
