Hollywood Center Introduction

Visitors to the Shumei Hollywood Center experience a breath of peace and beauty just minutes from the heart of Movie Town. Dedicated in 1979, this historic site is the birthplace of official Shumei activities in America. Jyorei–a healing by spiritual light–is offered free to everyone who stops by. Jyorei healings are also given as part of interfaith activities at several churches, as well as hospitals, nursing homes, and private residences.

The Hollywood Center is pleased to host first-rate musical presentations and children's recitals, reflecting Shumei's belief in Art as a healing force, purifying and elevating the human spirit. Fragrant floral arrangements add a touch of artistry and beauty to all the Center's activities.
After the monthly sampai (spiritual service), members and friends enjoy a potluck lunch featuring fresh natural produce direct from the rear garden. Groups often meet to learn about cooking, yoga, and various other subjects. Guided retreats help members achieve personal growth and goal realization. The annual Anniversary Celebration is a festivity that attracts visitors from all over the world.

Behind the Center, children can play games and enjoy monthly camp-outs where they learn about agriculture and the environment. Down the terraced slopes, fruits and vegetables, herbs and flowers grow in profusion through the art of Natural Agriculture. The soil, not long since barren, has come alive through natural methods that sustain the environment. Neither chemicals nor manure are used, nor any insecticides. Natural compost keeps the soil warm, moist, and well aerated.

Of primary importance in Natural Agriculture is the heart and soul of the individual farmer. Resulting crops are healthier, longer lasting, better tasting, and more resistant to insects and drought. Hollywood Center members of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) can enjoy natural produce at their family dining tables.
