Morning and Evening Sampai
At 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. sharp
Sampai is a special time set aside for chanting and receiving Jyorei (purifying energy), which enhances spiritual illumination, health and happiness. All are welcome to attend Daily Sampai. Please arrive ten minutes early if possible.
Monthly Sampai
Typically every 4th Sunday of the month - 10:30 a.m. suggested arrival time.
Next Monthly Sampai (calendar)
This is a more formal and much larger gathering at the Center with guest speakers, members and friends. All are welcome. A healthy lunch, fellowship, and general activities follow the Monthly Sampai. We request a $4 donation for the lunch.

Friends get together monthly at various people's homes to share Jyorei and enjoy time together. All are welcome at these relaxed and inviting gatherings that help us to get to know one another and to be more at peace.
Commune with Nature
Most Saturdays from about 9:30 a.m. to noon.
A Saturday morning harvest activity in the backyard that is open to anybody. The time in nature is rejuvenating and we learn how to grow food while maintaining a harmonious balance with nature. Learn more about the Natural Agriculture (shumei-na.org) philosophy and the benefits of growing food in pure, un-amended soil.
Home Garden Workshops
Various Dates
With Mr. Junzo Uyeno, Hollywood Center's Garden Manager and Creator. The workshops instruct on various aspects of growing food at your home using Natural Agriculture practices. Home gardens are a sustainable means of getting healthy and locally grown foods back into our diet. Classes
Jyorei Classes
By appointment on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. (or otherwise scheduled)
These complimentary classes are a four-part series (one-hour each) facilitated by our most experienced Jyorei practitioners. The classes are beneficial for those wishing to have a deeper and more meaningful life and for those wishing to learn about practicing Jyorei. Spiritual Development Classes (at Shumei National Center in Pasadena)
Typically every third Saturday evening 7:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. with optional dinner - $10
The classes are open for those who have already attended at least two of the previously mentioned 'Jyorei Classes.' Jyorei gathering is at 7:00 p.m. A healthy dinner starts at about 7:30 and the classes usually begin at 8:30 p.m. Please contact the Pasadena Center at 626-584-8841 to sign up and to RSVP for the dinner.
