Special Gratitude to Kaishusama and Kaicho-Sensei We members of Shumei America shared our dreams with our architects and contractor to design and build something very special for Shumei America’s National Center. The architects accepted the challenge of our lofty expectations and came up with a brilliant plan that included a serene circular hall and a two-story administration building with a roomy underground parking garage beneath them. Between the two buildings, there is an enchanting courtyard and a small garden area. While our intention was to create something Western, I wanted Kaishusama's spirit, which is Eastern, to be an essential part of the design as well. It was Kaishusama who established Shumei under the guidance of our founder Meishusama. It was Kaishusama who preserved the integrity of Meishusama's teachings and of the practice of Jyorei. It was Kaishusama who followed Meishusama's dreams and brought them to reality. We, Shinji Shumeikai of America, are all a part of her realizations. So, it was vital to create something totally in accord with Kaishusama's aesthetic sense and spiritual values. We were extremely fortunate and privileged to have received such kind guidance and extraordinary support from both Kaishusama and from Kaicho-Sensei during the planning and construction of Shumei’s American National Center. We are also grateful to our executive leaders, Kazutoshi Miyahara Sensei, Keiko Okada Sensei, Takako Hashimoto Sensei, and Satoshi Togo Sensei, who gave us their great encouragement and help. The result of all our efforts, made possible by constant guidance and blessings from Kaishusama and Kaicho-Sensei, was a National Center of surpassing beauty and purity, a Center with a truly international character. Thank you, Meishusama, for bringing so many people together
to create this wonderful edifice for us and for our children in the years
to come. |
