My Experiences with Jyorei

The first time I experienced Jyorei was at my church in Pennsylvania. Sensei Eugene Imai had agreed to talk to our adult Sunday School Class about Shumei of America. Eugene gave a short speech and five Shumei members offered to give Jyorei to anyone who wanted. I was the first to volunteer, and experienced pleasant sensations. I was convinced that I had to learn how to do Jyorei.

With the help of Eileen, Chisako, and Sensei Alan Imai, I received my Ohikari [individual Scroll of Light worn when giving Jyorei] at the Center in New York City. After a few months of my participating in weekly meetings at Eileen’s house, Chisako mentioned a spiritual holistic expo in Allentown where we could rent a booth and share Jyorei with the people attending the expo. Surrounded by people sharing their skills in seeing angels and auras, doing Reiki and massage and selling crystals, were three or four Shumei members giving Jyorei. “It only takes five minutes and it is free,” is what we said to many. In two days, over 120 people sat down and experienced Jyorei for the first time.

Word got around the large warehouse-like building that healing was happening at our booth. Two women came because they had been told to come by someone in another booth. A woman who had her own booth came and said she had been advised by her inner guidance to have Yasushi give her Jyorei. She told us how her aura was sick and which charkas were not working. After ten minutes of Jyorei, she pronounced herself totally healthy. Another woman, a Reiki Master, was given Jyorei by Yasushi. She said she had a vision of an angel during her Jyorei.

Last Sunday evening, five Shumei members were back at my church to share Jyorei. There are monthly opportunities to receive Reiki at the church and we asked if we could offer Jyorei, also. The Reiki Masters welcomed us into their healing circle to set the intention of healing for the evening. While Reiki was happening for some people, others came to us for Jyorei. Everyone could try both methods of healing. The feedback from everyone was positive. One Reiki Master said that the people who had Jyorei prior to Reiki had deeper experiences with their Reiki session.

I have seen for myself the power of Jyorei, and I knew I had done the right thing when I got involved with Shumei.
