The Fifth Anniversary of the Sao Paulo Center

On August 18, 2007, the Fifth Anniversary of Shumei’s Sao Paulo Center was celebrated. The day started with chanting and prayer at the Sao Paulo Center at 10:00 a.m. and the social festivities began at 3:00 p.m. at the Hotel Feller. About 60 people participated. Sensei Eugene Imai’s1 keynote address concerned the importance of seeking beauty in our lives. After his address, there were presentations from the NGO Alquimia2, the Jacaranda Farm3 and Educo Brazil,4 which concerned their activities and relationships with Shumei Brazil. From Shumei Brazil, Vilma Watanabe explained our three activities—Jyorei, Appreciation of beauty and Shumei Natural Agricultural—and shared her experience of participating at the fifth Anniversary of Shumei international institution at Creston, Colorado, USA, in May of 2007. Afterward, we all sang “Imagine” by John Lennon and made a painting together. During coffee break, Jacaranda coffee, cultivated by the Shumei Natural Agriculture method, was offered. Everyone enjoyed its marvelous taste.
Shumei Brazil shares and promotes Jyorei, the appreciation of Art and Beauty, and Natural Agricultural with other organization and contributes to Brazilian society.
