Pan-Asian
Youth Leadership Summit

Mobilizing the Next Generation for Achieving the Millennium Development Goals The Pan-Asian Youth Leadership Summit took place in Hiroshima, Japan, from 19 to 21 September 2004.
It drew delegates from across the region who have demonstrated leadership in advancing the Millennium Development Goals. The objective was to allow them to discuss, develop and lead projects in an internationally cooperative manner in support of those goals.

The overall approach was to foster a deeper understanding of the interconnections among development, the environment, poverty reduction and cultural exchange.

Shumei sponsored an international delegation of young people to the African Summit, the first summit which was held in Dakar, Senegal, in June 2004, to help in the cultivation of international partnerships, one of the Millennium Development Goals. Shumei assumed a larger responsibility in collaborating with the United Nations Development Programme for the organization of the Pan-Asian youth Leadership Summit, sponsoring youth leaders from every country in Asia and the Pacific to Hiroshima, Japan.
